When this is the case, it is generally not a good idea to try to convince the child to go on a diet. Don’t tell them they are fat. Unfortunately, kids know they are fat. Everyone else is telling them. The last thing children want to hear is that their parents agree with the rest of the world. Instead, show them they are loved and kids will hopefully make the decision to eat healthy foods and enjoy a healthy lifestyle.

As a parent, you can keep healthy foods in the house and get rid of junk food. Try to encourage children to eat fruits and vegetables rather than snacks. By doing this, they will be able to control their weight a little easier. Children will enjoy spending time with their parents. Get them out of the house while the the children are young and take them for a bike ride. Teach the children about the beautiful things that mother nature has to offer. Take them on a hike to a nearby waterfall. Swimming is another excellent way to get the kids out of the house and help them to have a good time while enjoying physical activity. By doing simple things such as this, the child will begin to lose weight and they will have more confidence in themselves. However, if their parents are constantly nagging them to lose weight, it is likely children will develop an eating disorder.

Even though it may be tempting to say something to this child about their weight, don’t do it until the child brings it up. Hopefully, there is a close relationship where they will feel comfortable talking to their parents about their personal issues.
